As I don't have much experience in blender, I decided to create a rough practice version of the game environment so I could learn how to do things such as use cloth simulator and make a shaggy rug. Through watching tutorials I managed to make the room below which also help with visualising what the game will be like. I based the room and items of my mood boards and how the game would work as the objects need to be in certain places to create a solid flow, making sure all the puzzles wont be in one corner of the room. With this practice, I am now more confident with blender and I will be able to create a realistic and meticulous environment for the game. This is important as the whole game takes place in this one room meaning that it heavily reflects the quality of the game.
Afterwards I decided to experiment with texture painting to further the visualisation of the room. I used a mixture of plain colour and pattern materials I found online. Once again I had never done this before so I look at many different tutorials online to figure out how to do it sufficiently. Adding patterns such as the rug, duvet and posters made the room a lot more intimate and realistic. For when I create the full environment, I will play with the settings on objects to adjust their appearance such as how shiny they appear and adding more complex materials to add wear, tear and detail to objects. I will also add shaders and change the lighting so that all like comes from lightbulbs in the ceiling.
